recipe per leslie's request ...

here is the cake recipe book i've used for vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, banana cake, chocolate cupcakes (though not the red velvet cake which i looked up on the internet due to the special ingredient i wanted to use), and of course, the two toned pecan bundt cake with bourbon molasses glaze .

and the recipe leslie asked for...

but i'm really, really excited to try my NEW cute & clever 'all cakes considered' (any npr listeners out there?), which miss leslie sent me. check out this beautiful beast:

looks like a good time to me!

what a beautiful new cookbook. are they recipes from npr or are they just doing a play on all things considered because the authors like it?

that's what's so weird, they're like actually cakes from it, i think! at least that's what i understood from the cover. chronicle books is their publisher and they opened a little shop on our street last year. it's got a cute blue doorway and it feels pretty in there. (right across the street from jest jewels, slyman and katherine)

hope you get to enjoy!

p.s. that bourbon dual layer thing totally sounds even more amazing now that i get to know the ingredients! mmmmm....but wait a sec. what's 1/2 the time about it? seems a little complicated for it to claim 1/2 the time. i think they'd appreciate your photo submission to let their readers know the end result is totally worth the effort.

Yum! Looks like a great book. I've made stuff from Rachel Ray's 30-Minute Meals and it takes me 2-3 times longer to make everything in there! I think the prep time assumes that we have people on hand to chop and prepare things for us. (Patrick's job, perhaps?)
