martha's vineyard, part 4 (family time)

of course the best thing about this trip was seeing everyone.  if only baby graham didn't have a cough, we could have all held each other's lil' babies! here's a mix of family/candid shots:

had such a great time getting to see judy, jeff, jenny, tommy and meeting baby hugo. especially great to get some mommy chat in with jenn. and girl time in with judy & jenny. look forward to a time when we can all get together again somewhere, hoping with cousin kiira and patrick's sis amanda too!

martha's vineyard, part 3

the vineyard, part two

That's what you have to call it, the vineyard, to be cool. i think. right?

Kinda wanted to start off with a satellite screen shot from google maps to explain the lengthwise layout of the naftulin's gorgeous home. But if a crazy house robber were to ever find this blog, I wouldn't want them to match the screenshot to the house and take all these pretty things. Yep, I'm weird like that. So ... Just understand that it's long and skinny, with the long side aligned with the coast to maximize the views. That was actually pretty easy.

I had seen Judy and Jeff's loft in Portland, and loved it. And then this place blew me away. Built into the natural landscape and elevated, the house is open, airy and bright. I dont have photos of the bedrooms, bathrooms, or master suite, but they're all equally as fun. The master is separated from the main house by a patio. There is also a screened porch, perfect for dining in the breeze with stunning views of the water. Just loved this place.

i believe judy found those pillars somewhere, liked them, and had them brought back and cut to size.

graham: three months old

august 13 to september 12

little buddy,

this month you started at daycare. you transitioned seamlessly and they report you're a happy baby at school. by the end of your first month there, you already had a girlfriend. her name is zoe.

she's holding your hand.

right after i went back to work you started waking up multiple times, and inconsistently, overnight. so while i thought you were on your way to waking up only once, you definitely went back to waking up twice a night. around 12:30a and 3:30a.

you're still our laid back little buddy though. even our friends at miss amanda's say you're super easy. and they agree that you are very unlike how your sister was at your age. baby piper was colicky. even though the colic started to subside by the time she started daycare, she was still a little gassy and cranky when she started at miss amandas. there is no way around it: piper was a difficult baby, and you are not!

not long after going back to work, we transitioned you to half breastmilk/half formula because my supply just couldn't keep up. we're trying to find the perfect formula for you. maybe it will help you sleep? you went from drinking 3 1/2 to 4 ounces per feeding to 6 ounces per feeding by the end of the month. i think miss amanda tried to increase your ounce-age too quickly at first, but now that we're a few weeks down the road, it seems to be working ok. 

you started rolling from your tummy to your back around 14 weeks. and you're even extra super smiley now. you just love to hang out, "talk" and be with the group. and we love you being with us!

martha's vineyard part 1

i think i'll try to do a few posts on our martha's vineyard trip from the summer!

patrick's aunt judy and uncle jeff invited us out for a visit at their summer home on martha's vineyard.  patrick's cousin jenny would also be there, with her 4m old son hugo. we were so excited to meet 'baby go-go!'  and even patrick's brother tom was going to be there. 

our little piper had traveled to new hampshire, california, upstate new york and norway by the time she was one.  but this was our first flight with two kiddies. wow, traveling with a toddler and a baby is another ball game!  but still totally doable. we had a layover at JFK before hopping over to MV, and the kids did a great job. 

the naftulin's home is situated on chappaquiddick, which is a smaller island about a two-minute ferry ride to the east of the larger island. it belongs to the town of edgartown, which was the first settlement on the island. perfectly situated on the waterfront, edgartown has a main street full of restauarants and shops. pedestrians, cars and bicyclists can shuttle across the ferry to chappaquiddick, where much of the island is a dedicated nature reserve.

And for the rest of the afternoon, I snuggled with my little buddy outside on the balcony.
